AFTER the latest medal successes, Charlie Ford is a happy Warrington Rowing Club captain and junior coach.

Seventeen crews from the club tackled The Dee Autumn Head hosted by Grosvenor Rowing Club in Chester, with a number achieving finishing places in the top three.

There were further close results for the club against some strong opposition, with crews from as far away as London competing under the blue sky on calm waters of the 4km course.

Ford said: “Being the captain of Warrington Rowing Club is a huge honour and it’s encouraging to see that after just two months of the new season athletes are winning medals.

“Winter training has now begun and it is during this period that athletes work on strength and endurance ahead of the racing season which begins in March.

“Our junior, senior and master squads all have aspirations of racing at national level, some of our juniors even have their sights set on international competition.

“There are more medals to come for Warrington.”
