THIS year’s Neville Jones Warrington Schools Cross Country League at Walton Hall and Gardens has a different format.

The series will feature two rounds, instead of the three meets of previous years.

Also, at primary schools level there are separate races for boys and girls for years 4, 5 and 6, while for the secondary schools all ages run together but are separated for results into minor (Year 7), jkunior (Years 8&9) and intermediate (Years 10 & 11).

The second round to conclude the series will take place on Saturday, December 14.

Here are the results from the first round, with St Monica’s and Lymm enjoying lots of success: Year 4 girls: 1 Be a Haslam (Croft), 2 Ivy Bates (St Monica’s), 3 Evie Weatherall (Statham). Team race: 1 Christ Church 21pts, 2 St Monica’s 38pts, 3 Culcheth 48pts.

Year 4 boys: 1 Thomas Farrell (Ravenbank), 2 Zander Brazier-Kobus (St Monica’s), 3 Monty Butters (Appleton Thorn). Team race: 1 Appleton Thorn 4pts, 2 St Monica’s 20pts, 3, Moore 36pts.

Year 5 girls: 1 Ivy Davidson (Appleton Thorn), 2 Amy Shelmerdine-Goff (St Wilfrid’s), 3 Ava Hardman (Ravenbank). Team race: 1 St Monica’s 16pts, 2 Appleton Thorn 31pts, 3 Stockton Heath 37pts.

Year 5 boys: 1 Leonard Broadhurst (Park Road), 2 Larry Donlan (St Monica’s), 3 Oliver Tyerman (St Wilfrid’s). Team race: 1 Culcheth 22pts, 2 St Wilfrid’s 38pts, 3, Appleton Thorn 52pts.

Year 6 girls: 1 Emilia Gandy (Christ church), 2 Leisel Barnes (St Monica’s), 3 Emmy Hodgin (Broomfields). Team race: 1 St Monica’s 17pts, 2 Broomfields 20pts, 3 Appleton Thorn 39pts.

Year 6 boys: 1 Alex Farrell (Ravenbank), 2 Seb Hughes (Ravenbank), 3 Alfie Furnival (Moore). Team race: 1 Ravenbank 8pts, 2 Moore 17pts, 3 Croft 25pts.

Year 7 girls: 1 Bethany Roberts (Lymm), 2 Lois Johnston Starrs (Lymm), 3 Charlotte Andrew (Birchwood). Team race: 1 Lymm 4pts.

Year 7 boys: 1 Finn Hock (Lymm), 2 Freddie Walker (Lymm), 3 Ryan Lawton (Penketh). Team race: 1 Lymm 5pts.

Years 8 and 9 girls: 1 Evie-May Williams (Lymm), 2 Eva Hayes (Bridgewater), 3 Grace Rashud (Cardinal Newman). Team race: 1 Lymm 7pts.

Years 8 and 9 boys: 1 Harry Millar (Culcheth), 2 Euan Lawton (Great Sankey), 3 Ben Shaw (Lymm). Team race: 1 Lymm 10pts.

Year 10 and 11 boys: 1 Alfie Blizzard (Birchwood), 2 Elliot Taylor (St Gregory’s), 3 Harvey Howard (Cardinal Newman). Note: No girls ran in this age group and no teams were complete.
