MIDFIELDER Dana Amaral has made the cross-town move to join Warrington Town from neighbours Warrington Rylands.
The 21-year-old former Preston North End youngster has played six times for Blues this season but has now joined their neighbours having impressed new manager Paul Carden in training.
And Carden has hinted his arrival will not be the last of the changes he makes to the squad in the coming weeks as he readjusts to life back at Cantilever Park.
“There will be changes over the coming weeks, but everyone will get the opportunity to show what they can do,” he said.
“Unfortunately, opportunities can only be in training sometimes and certain players may not get what they call the right opportunity, but if I don’t see it in training on a Tuesday and Thursday then we’re not in a position where we can take a chance.
“That’s not to say the squad hasn’t been training well – they have been excellent since I came in.
“We’re in a position where we need to add to the squad in certain areas and if that means moving players on to bring others in, we will have to do that.
“It’s about evaluating the situation and making changes to get more positive results.
“Everybody (in football) is in the same boat. We need to perform, and if not, there will need to be changes.”
One player who will get the chance to stake his claim for a spot in the side is Mozambique-born Amaral, who Carden says is the type of midfielder the squad was perhaps missing.
“Dana is someone I’ve been aware of and watched for a while,” he said.
“He is a defensive-minded midfielder, which we don’t really have at the moment.
“I’ve watched him a few times and he’s done really well, and people have spoke highly of his character and potential.
“He was desperate to come in, which is always a big factor, and he wants to try and force his way in to the team and he has the opportunity now to earn his place.”
