Andy Hayes comfortably defeated holder and three-times winner Alan Manuel from Alford Hall 21-7 in the final.
Hayes, a member of Lane Ends Eccleston Bowls Club, was always in control following an early 8-1 lead.
And despite Manuel’s best efforts the St Helens player ran out an easy winner.
Hayes’ hardest game was against Billy Speed in the semi-final.
He was losing for most of the game, but from 12-17 and 16-19 down he made a great recovery to snatch the win 21-19, taking the last four ends.
Manuel’s closest match was a 21-15 win over John Brown, a previous winner.
The competition had a full entry of 64 players, with the early rounds played over four nights.
