WARRINGTON Town have bolstered their squad ahead of Paul Carden’s first game back in charge of the club.

Yellows have confirmed the loan signing of defender Hamish Douglas, who joins from League One side Rotherham United on an initial one-month deal.

The 19-year-old, who is primarily a centre-back but can also operate in midfield, is set to go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s return to National League North action as Town visit Chorley for their first game since Carden returned to the club to replace the departed Mark Beesley.

His arrival comes as a big boost to Town’s defensive ranks, which suffered a blow last week when the experienced Tom Hannigan departed to join Bootle while Peter Clarke and Ollie Southern are also struggling with injuries.

Douglas is yet to make his senior debut for the Millers but had an extensive loan spell in the Northern Premier League Premier Division last season with Gainsborough Trinity, playing 33 times and scoring twice.

His initial loan deal covers Yellows’ next seven National League North fixtures up to and including the trip to Brackley Town on November 2.
