TWO of Warrington Athletics Club’s most talented young athletes are on track for international selections.
The club are celebrating news this week that Lewis Shaw and Brandon Quinton have both been selected for national programmes, marking them out as among the best prospects of their age.
Under 17s hurdler Shaw, whose excellent season has included two national titles and a gold medal in his first international competition, has been invited to join the England Athletics Youth Pathway Program for 2024 alongside his coach Neal Petley, who will be supported to help him fulfil his potential.
The program aims to support young athletes in their transition from junior to senior athletics and having achieved top-tier selection, Shaw is currently regarded as a potential European and World representative in the future.
Meanwhile, Quinton has received his first England vest having been selected as part of an eight-strong male and female team for a European under 23s road race in Italy.
Quinton, who is coached at the Victoria Park-based club by Tom Greaves, will represent England in the race at Corsa di Castelli having achieved a road 10km personal best of 29mins 44secs in March, which ranks him third in the UK in his age group.
