WARRINGTON’S Daniel Bonner has once again been crowned a Muay Thai world champion.

However, his third world title can perhaps be seen as his most significant to date.

Saturday saw the former Padgate High School pupil, who co-owns the Forge Fight Academy in Bewsey with twin brother and fellow fighter Matthew, step into the ring with Andronikos Evripidou of Cyprus at Wigan’s Brick Community Stadium.

The WBC world title – considered the most prestigious in the sport – was on the line at the Muay Thai Monarchs show, and Bonner came through via a unanimous points decision to bring the super-middleweight belt home to Warrington.

This latest success follows WMO and CFS world titles during an increasingly successful career for Bonner, who is hopeful of securing a defence of his title before the end of the year.

Before then, however, a documentary charting Bonner’s preparation for his WBC title fight will be screened in the town later this month.

The screening will take place at Cineworld in Time Square on Thursday, September 26, to be followed by a Q&A with Bonner himself.

Tickets can be bought for £5, with a link to purchase available via Bonner’s Instagram page @dan_thebomber_bonner
