AFTER four rounds of qualifying, the Peter Lawrenson Memorial Trophy will be decided this weekend.

Some of the town’s best bowlers have come through the preliminary rounds to take their place at Finals Day, which takes place on Sunday at St Albans Bowling Club on Bewsey Street.

Practice for the 16 players involved starts at 10.15am, with matches getting underway at 11am.

Refreshments in the form of a barbecue and hot and cold drinks will be available for spectators on the day, while bookmaker Billy Stewart will be taking bets on the action.

The final four spots were decided in the last qualifying event on Friday as Paul Garrett, Mark Bennett, Kev Wilcox and Dan Woodward won through.

The £50 prize for the highest break across the four qualifying nights was won by Larry Wells for his break of 13, with another £50 on offer for the highest break on Finals Day.
