TWO of Warrington Athletics Club’s most promising talents will get a taste of what the Olympic Games could be like later this month.

Hurdling prodigy Lewis Shaw and distance runner Esme Heavey – both of whom run for the club’s under 17s age group – have been selected for the School Games National Finals, which will be held at Loughborough University over the weekend of August 29-31.

The event is designed to give athletes experience of competing in an environment based on the Olympics, with various sports and based around one venue while representing different teams.

Shaw – the UK’s number-one ranked hurdler in his age group – will compete for the Sydney All-Stars team while Heavey will run in the 3,000m for the Tokyo All-Stars.
