WARRINGTON’S James Guy has been in Olympic action this afternoon, Tuesday.
The 28-year-old former Cardinal High School student is part of Team GB’s swimming cohort at this year’s games in Paris.
Guy, a former winner of the Warrington Junior Sports Personality of the Year Award, earned two relay golds in Tokyo.
And he was back in the pool today for the heat of the men’s 4 x 200m freestyle relay event.
Team GB finished first in the heat with a time of 7:05.11 – meaning Team GB is in the final this evening.
Guy completed the first leg of the relay, followed by teammates Jack McMillan, Kieran Bird and Tom Dean.
His stint was branded ‘outstanding’ and ‘brilliant’ by commentators, finishing ahead of his competitors and setting a great platform for his teammates.
Tonight’s final is scheduled for 9.15pm at Paris La Defense Arena.
