WARRINGTON Town’s fifth new signing of the summer has been confirmed.

Versatile defender Murphy Bennett becomes the latest player to join Mark Beesley’s squad, with the 19-year-old signing on for the new National League North season.

Bennett has featured as a trialist for Yellows throughout pre-season, playing in both full-back positions and in a wide midfield role.

And the former Forest Green Rovers man, who spent a spell on loan at Gloucester City in the National League North last season, says he has been made to feel right at home.

“I think the friendlies have gone well. The team have gelled well together, and personally I think I've done well so far,” he said.

"I want to play as much as I can this season and strive for the ambitions that the club have set.

"I get along with all the lads really well, and they've made me feel at home straight away."

Bennett, who has represented Wales at under 18s level, joins fellow defender Ollie Southern, midfielder Bohan Dixon and forward Joe Rodwell-Grant as permanent new signings at Cantilever Park while winger Josh Miles has also joined on a three-month loan deal from Blackpool.

Town have two pre-season friendlies remaining – a home game against Oldham Athletic tomorrow night and a trip to Bamber Bridge on Saturday – before they kick the new season off at King’s Lynn Town on Saturday, August 10.
