HAVING had to be patient in their pursuit of new signings, Warrington Town have now confirmed their second arrival in the space of a day.

Hot on the heels of defender Ollie Southern’s signing, manager Mark Beesley has bolstered his attacking options with the signing of Joe Rodwell-Grant.

The striker, 21, arrives from Wigan Athletic as a key boost up front, with last season’s top scorer Isaac Buckley-Ricketts having left the club while skipper Josh Amis is expected to miss the start of the season having had shoulder surgery.

Like Southern, Rodwell-Grant has played in both of Yellows’ pre-season friendlies thus far as a trialist and scored their second goal in a 3-0 victory over Rochdale at Cantilever Park on Saturday.

And he says supporters’ reactions to his display that day have heartened him as he officially starts life as a Town player.

“It was class coming off and the fans telling me to sign, I loved it,” he said.

“I’ll give everything I’ve got and I’m sure the team will too. I’m buzzing to be here.

“It’s a good club and Bees has been on to me to come in for a while.

“It’s been good coming in the first few games and getting a goal and making myself at home, and hopefully that’s the start of something new.

“What any striker wants is to score goals and that’s the aim for me personally and for the team.

“I’m glad Warrington have given me the chance to prove myself.”

Beesley added: “We’ve been after Joe for a while now – we tried to sign him a couple of times when he was at Wigan and so it’s third time lucky.

“He’s done really well in the games, he’s looked sharp and fit and that’s the key to it – giving him a platform to perform.”
