THE winners of the Padgate Festival mixed pairs bowls competition survived a scare in the semi finals.
Karen Galvin and Mike Spencer defeated Jean Wanbon and Larry Wells comfortably 21-9 in the final at Padgate Tennis and Bowling Club.
Galvin and Spencer came through four rounds to reach the final, with their closest match being in the semi against Margaret Williams and Paddy Birmingham.
Williams and Birmingham led for most of the game but were caught at 16 across.
Galvin and Spencer then scored a 2 and a 3 in the last three ends to run out 21-17 winners.
Wanbon and Wells had three rounds before the final with their closest match being a 21-17 win over C Williams and A Gregory in the semi-finals.
