A MAGNIFICENT seven Warrington Athletics Club competitors will be representing their county in the English Schools Championships at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham on July 12 and 13.

Six will be giving their all for Cheshire, and one for Merseyside.

Cheshire selections, junior age group: Olivia Crawford, girls 75m hurdles; Tallie Sze, girls long jump; Alfie Blizzard, boys 800m.

Cheshire selections, intermediate age group: Jack Marwood, boys 1500m; Esme Heavey, girls 3000m; Imogen Wharton, girls 1500m.

Merseyside selection, intermediate age group: Lewis Shaw, boys 100m hurdles.

Under 17 Heavey showed her continuing strong form when she recorded a new 1500m personal best time.

It came when she finished ninth in the women’s C race at Loughborough University’s Paula Radcliffe Stadium in 4mins 33.87secs.

Warrington Athletics Club results from Sale Sizzler 5K

FIVE Warrington AC athletes talked the first of Sale Harriers’ Sale Sizzler 5K races at Wythenshawe Park.

First of them to finish was Steve Watmough in 94th place with 18mins 07secs to place second in the over 60s age group.

Next over the line were the youngest of the squad with under 17s Sinead Gregory in 178th place overall in 20mins 08secs and her twin Cara in 237th place in 21mins 32secs to place 26th and 47th women as well as second and third under 20s women.

Joanna Robbins was next in 252nd place in 22mins 03secs, placing her 55th woman and fifth over 50s woman.

Ellen Turnbull completed the squad in 252nd place in 22mins 26secs, placing her 60th woman.

Warrington 10K Road Race results

WARRINGTON Athletics Club’s Louise Blizzard was first woman home in the Warrington 10K Road Race at Woolston.

First from the club to finish was Andy Green in 19th place with 41mins 05secs to finish second in the over 60s age group.

Blizzard was close behind in 23rd place in 41mins 55secs.
