THERE will be Friday night rugby league action at Monk Sports Club as Woolston Rovers try to get back to winning ways.

The Green and Golds welcome Ince Rose Bridge in their return to action following a fortnight off, with the game being moved from Saturday afternoon to Friday evening with a 7pm kick off.

Rovers are currently on a six-game losing run to sit ninth in the National Conference League Division One table, with Friday’s visitors riding high in second spot.

Head coach Liam Lawton says their time off has been used productively as he looks for his players to deliver a full, 80-minute performance.

If they do, he insists their fortunes will start to turn.

“We have had a week off with no game, which will hopefully have done the lads the world of good, but we have trained in that time and it has gone really well,” he said.

“The lads are working hard and are determined to get some positive results over the next few weeks.

“In most of the games, we have been competitive for the first hour but then teams have pulled away in the last quarter.

“We need to compete for the full 80 minutes and if we can do that then I have every confidence that the results will start to turn in our favour.”
