THE Gregory family was out in force to represent Warrington Athletics Club on Friday – and they even had a race between themselves!

Parents Mark and Anne were joined by kids Cara, Rory, Siobhan, Sinead and Orla at Helsby Running Club’s track night, with clubmates Dave Norman and Elliot Taylor also competing.

And Elliot joined “Team Anne” alongside Sinead and Orla for a 4x400m relay race which also included “Team Mark” in which Cara, Rory and Siobhan ran alongside their Dad.

It was Team Mark that earned family bragging rights, winning in 4mins 43.2secs with Team Anne clocking 4mins 49.4secs.

Individually, Mark was fourth in his 800m race in 2mins 43.4secs and 11th in the one-mile race in 6mins 8.9secs while Anne finished second in her 3,000m C race, clocking 13mins 8.1secs.

Orla was fourth in her 800m A race in 2mins 20.5secs while brother Rory was third in the B race in 2mins 28.3secs as he finished just behind Elliot, who ran a personal-best 2mins 23.6secs, with Sinead setting a new personal-best time of 2mins 31.2secs in finishing her race in fourth.

In the under 17s C race, Sinead was fifth in 2mins 35.7secs while twin sister Cara was seventh in the D race in 2mins 45.6secs.

Dave Norman competed in three events, finishing sixth in the 3,000m B race (10mins 48.5secs), fifth in the one-mile C race (5mins 51.3secs) and fifth in the 800m E race (2mins 47.8secs).

Meanwhile, Warrington’s over 65s team headed to Leicestershire with the aim of defending their British Masters Road Relay Championships title, although all three members have had their injury struggles of late.

Still, the team of Dave Watson, Stan Ogden and Dave Gill combined well enough to bring home the bronze medal.

Watson took the first leg of the race and having completed the course in 19mins 49secs, he handed over to Ogden with the team in second place behind South London Harriers.

Ogen then ran the third-fastest time on his leg as he clocked 19mins 56secs, but the team had been caught by Scotland’s Cambusland Harriers by the time he handed over to Gill.

He clocked 20mins 28secs on the final leg, but they could not reel in the Scottish club.
