JOE Talbot had an impressive and encouraging weekend at the latest British Superbikes Championship meet.

The Warrington rider left Donington with a podium finish in the Pirelli National Superstock series having come a close second behind championship leader Davey Todd.

Indeed, he was in the race lead for a while having qualified in third place and while Todd passed him, Talbot finished just 0.2secs behind him.

“Donington was good weekend for me and my team – we worked on finding the last little bit all the time,” he said.

“The weather was sunny so we had very hot track conditions, making it hard for setup on the bike.

“Finishing the race in P2, I felt I rode good but just lacked in a few areas.

“It’s another positive to take away and I’m learning all the time.”

Talbot is now 10 points behind Todd in the overall championship standings ahead of Round Three at the Knockhill circuit in Scotland over the weekend of June 14-16.
