HIGH achievers and loyal servants have received Warrington Athletics Club awards.
A presentation evening was held at Alford Hall Sports and Social Club on Friday, to which Warrington AC members and their families attended, culminating in Esme Heavey and Jack Marwood receiving the female and male athlete of the year awards for 2022/23.
Both produced some outstanding results in the period.
Heavey's wins included a Cheshire County Championships 800m and 1,500m double, the Cheshire Schools Championships 1,500m and the Northern Inter-County Championships 1,500m.
Marwood celebrated four race successes in the Manchester Area Cross Country League, the Cheshire Cross Country Championships, the North West Road Relays and the Cheshire County Championships 800m.
Earlier in the night, Jim Russell, Steve Burthem and Dave Spencer all received the ‘WAC Legend’ award for their years of service to the club.
Tom Greaves was named coach of the year. Tallie Sze, Hannah Hull, Josh Pryor and Fraser Savage won in the most improved category.
Jaycee Morrison, Leah Poole, Tom Welsby and Louis Green won in the club member category.
The club’s annual meeting will be held at Victoria Park Arena on Tuesday, April 2.
