THE two Warrington Athletics Club runners who contested the British Masters Indoor Championships at Lee Valley in London came home with medals.
Julie Hicken collected silver in the over 60s 200m, clocking 31.51secs, and the next day finished fifth in the 60m in 9.40secs.
Both times are the fastest she has run since moving into the over 60s age group.
Dave Watson bagged bronze in the over 65s 800m with a personal best 2mins 38.72secs.
A week earlier Watson was successful in the USATF Southeast Region Masters Indoor Championships in Gainsville, Florida, USA in the 3000m, finishing third overall and winning the over 65s title in 11mins 24.92secs.
Lewis Shaw beat his own club record in winning a silver medal in the English Indoor Championships for under 15s, 17s and 20s at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
In the under 17s men’s 60m hurdles, Shaw won his heat with a pb 8.08secs and in the final improved that to 8.05secs but missed out on the gold medal by just 0.02 of a second.
Shaw’s time ranks him second in UK but first in England and also puts him 23rd equal in the UK all-time list.
Olivia Crawford won her under 15s girls heat with a new pb 9.12secs but was unable to repeat or improve her time in the final where she finished fifth. Her heat time positions her fourth in the UK indoor rankings.
Tallie Sze had a busy time in the in the under 15s girls.
She set a new 60m pb of 8.10secs to finish fifth in her heat but did not progress to the next round.
In the long jump she again finished in fifth place, going over five metres for the first time with a jump of 5.01m which puts her 11th equal in the UK indoor rankings.
Sze returned the next day for the 200m in which she ran a personal best 27.07secs, missing her outdoor time by just seven 100ths of a second to yet again finish fifth in her heat.
Meanwhile, Lucie Davies took on the Watersons Hale 10k Road Race, finishing 127th in a personal best 42mins 10secs.
Warrington AC youngsters turned out in force in the Ashley Hall 3k Race, with Alex Farrell leading them home in fourth place overall (second under 11 boy) in 11mins 50secs and was followed home by Alfie Furnival in fifth (third under 11 boy) in 11mins 59secs.
Next in was Eva Hayes in seventh (second under 14 girl) in 12mins 31secs with Grace Rashud 10th (fourth under 14 girl) in 12mins 45secs, Emilia Gandy 11th (first under 11 girl) 13mins 01secs and Bethany Roberts 13th (13mins 11secs).
Leonard Broadhurst was next to finish in 22nd (fifth under 11 boy) 13mins 35secs followed by Ivy Davidson 24th (third under 11 girl) 13mins 40secs, Ettie Rashud 27th (fourth under 11 girl) 13mins 59secs and Alex Roberts 28th (sixth under 11 boy) 14mins 01secs.
Luis Davidson was 31st (second under 8 boy) 14mins 10secs with Thomas Farrell 34th (third under eight boy) 14mins 23secs and the squad was completed by Aiden Losty 48th (eighth under 14 boy) 15mins 22secs.
Steve Watmough was the first of four Warrington Athletics Club athletes to finish the Village Bakery Wrexham Half Marathon on Sunday.
He was 179th in 1hr 20mins 27secs to win the over 60s age group and was followed home by Daniel Lunt just two seconds behind in 181st place, a personal best by just over two minutes.
Louise Blizzard was next to finish in 531st place overall in 1hr 35mins 01secs to place her 59th woman and fourth over 45 woman.
The fourth round of the Manchester Area Cross Country League took place at Kenworthy Woods, Manchester, with 28 Warrington Athletics Club members completing their events.
In the under 11s age group, Alfie Furnival was first to finish for the boys in 14th place and was followed home by Luke Horman 37th and Aiden Losty 38th for the team to finish eighth.
Emilia Gandy was 15th with Bethany Roberts 17th and Lois Johnson-Starrs 20th as the girls A team placed fifth.
The B team of Charlotte Andrew 29th,Florence Mark 31st and Edie McArthur 46th finished 12th.
In the under 13s boys, Euan Lawton finished 11th and with Harry Millar 18th and Eddie Walker 37th the team were fifth.
Sinead Gregory was seventh in the under 15s age group, with Cara Gregory 11th and Sarah Ashcroft 15th the team finished third.
In the under 15 boys, Harvey Howard was 26th in 19mins 14secs.
Alex Rix was the only under 17 to run, finishing 11 in 22mins 48secs.
In the senior/under 20s women’s race, Rachel McQuillan in ninth led the squad home with Claire Andrew 14th to be first over 45, Georgina Walker 39th fourth over 45 and Faye Lawton 95th for the team to finish in fifth place.
The squad was completed by Joy Ashcroft-Carter 138th - eighth under 20 - and Sharon Taylor 189th (48:09) 20th over 50.
The masters team of Andrew, Walker and Taylor finished 15th.
The women’s team lead the third division of the league and the masters team is in a three-club race for the Division Three title, with all three on the same points.
In the senior men’s race, Watmough led the squad in 109th place with Dave Norman 139th to take first and second in the over 60s age group.
Mark Gregory was next in 248th (26th over 50), Steve Burthem 274th (10th over 60) and Joao Santos 388th.
In the masters the team have completed three events and lie close to the medals in Division Three.
