RETIRED Warrington superstar jockey Paul Hanagan will be appearing at Monk Sports and Social Club to raise funds in aid of Rob Burrow and his family.
Hanagan and special guests from the worlds of horse racing and rugby league will take part in a Q&A and proceeds from the event will go to the Rob Burrow 7 Discretionary Trust, a fund set up to support the former Leeds Rhinos and Great Britain scrum-half and his young family to deal with the impact of his MND diagnosis.
Tickets are on sale to Monk Sports members behind the bar until Thursday, when they then go on general sale.
Latchford-born Hanagan, a former student at Sir Thomas Boteler High School, retired as a jockey in September after a stellar 23-year career.
The 2010 and 2011 Champion Jockey rode more than 2,000 winners worldwide and classic races in this country including the Oaks at Epsom and the King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.
He was also the retained jockey to Sheik Hamdan Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai since 2008.
Hanagan is now attached to Craig Lidster’s training yard in York where he is passing on his vast knowledge of the sport.
He is also a director of the Good Racing Company who run racing syndicates that help charitable causes.
