INCREDIBLE Luke Littler has gone from Wire Scaffolding 180s competition winner to World Darts Championship finalist in the space of two months.
While thousands have poured into Alexandra Palace in London and millions tuned in on television at home to see the prodigious 16-year-old Warrington talent at work over the past few weeks, surroundings were a little more humble at St Benedict’s Social Club in Rhodes Street, Orford, at the beginning of November when he became the first victor of the inaugural Warrington 501 Darts League competition.
Entrants qualified through having struck a 180 in a league game, an achievement Luke ‘The Nuke’ realised while in action for The Tavern Sports Bar, Church Street – the pub team with which the former Padgate Academy student is registered.
He did not have everything his own way in the final, losing a set to St Benedict’s opponent Clive Rule but he ran out 2-1 winner in the end.
