SIBLINGS are gearing up to tackle 2024 head-on in different sports after high achievements over the past 12 months.
Elli McEvatt and her younger brother Theos want to build on their successes so far in weightlifting and martial arts respectively.
Theos, 14, capped 2023 by winning the prestigious International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation European Championships in Dublin, Ireland, making him a two-time double European and Pan American champion.
He finished the year undefeated as IBJJF Pan American champion, IBJJF European champion, Four Nations MMA champion, RAW MMA British champion, and number one ranked IBJJF orange belt in the world.
Theos trains jiu-jitsu at Gracie Barra Warrington, MMA at Titanium MMA Academy in Liverpool and does his strength and conditioning work with Body Project Calisthenics in Evans House in Norman Street.
2024 will be another huge competitive campaign for him as it will be his last year in the junior division and he is going for a clean sweep again!
His sister Elli, 17, is a weightlifter in the Olympic class and is coached by Great Britain athlete Andy Griffiths.
The Priestley College student won the Junior English Championships last February and came second at the British Championships in September.
She has previously competed internationally for Great Britain, finishing seventh in the Youth World Championships and sixth in the Youth European Championships.
Her 2024 goal is to compete for England and/or GB again as she transitions to university, hopefully as a sports scholar at Liverpool John Moores University.
