WOOLSTON Karate Club has announced its most successful year to date, amassing an impressive medal tally.
Seventy-five medals were achieved across various local, national and international competitions.
The club’s dedication to excellence resulted in fantastic achievements, including reaching the final of the WUKF World Championships in Dundee.
There, Jasmin Thomas, Keeva Wignall and Ruby Owen emerged as the highest-placed English team in their age category.
Additionally, Woolston Karate Club participated in the WMAI Four Nations Championships in Dublin, returning with nine medals between a small squad of five competitors.
Driven by the pursuit of excellence, Woolston Karate Club, established in 1977, are now setting their sights on surpassing their previous achievements in 2024.
With the aim of breaking the 100-medal mark, the club are preparing for two major events – the WUKF British Open in March and the European Championships in Poland in November.
Ruby, who lives in Woolston, has been given a boost in her personal aims.
She has gained a place on LiveWire’s Talented Athlete Development Programme for 2024.
This scheme aims to provide athletes with a framework of support that enables them to access high-quality facilities, training programmes and lifestyle support to further enhance their performance over the next year.
