WOOLSTON Rovers will be looking to achieve their season’s goal of gaining promotion on Saturday.
Standing in their way are Shaw Cross Sharks, who reached the National Conference League Division Two Play Off Final courtesy of defeating Saddleworth Rangers at the weekend.
Rovers head coach Billy Sheen says his players are ready for the challenge of leaping the final hurdle, which would see them join neighbours Crosfields in Division One next season.
“Our full focus at the beginning of pre-season training was to get promotion from Division Two and we are 80 minutes from fulfilling what we set out to do,” said Sheen, whose side finished lower than Shaw Cross on the ladder and must therefore travel to their Leeds Road ground in Dewsbury for the 2.30pm kick-off.
“There have been plenty of ups and downs during the year but we have now got a great opportunity to go up.
“I thought our display against Wigan St Judes in the semi-final was our best display for some time and if we can replicate that this Saturday then we will give ourselves a really good chance of getting the right result.
“We are under no illusions that this will be a tough game but it is one we are all looking forward to.
“We have had an extra week to prepare due to the other semi-final only taking place on Saturday and hopefully that will work in our favour as it gave a few of our lads extra time to shake off little niggles and will enable them to be fresh and raring to go.”
