DON’T be fooled by the image because the Warrington man with the blood-splattered face was the winner of this world-title fight at the weekend.
Dan Bonner, 32, won his second world crown by defeating Turkish opponent Enis Yunusoglu.
Victory was secured by a fourth-round stoppage on the Muay Thai Monarchs Show at the DW Stadium in Wigan on Sunday.
This added the prestigious WMO world title to the Combat Fight Series version he secured in July.
“The fight was very close for the first three rounds with Enis cutting me with an elbow in the fourth before I hurt him several times with punches and the referee had to jump in to stop him taking any more punishment,” said Bonner, who grew up in Orford but now lives on the Latchford Locks estate with his partner Mel and daughter Isla.”
His next fight is yet to be confirmed but Bonner said he could be looking at a big fight in Australia.
Former Padgate High School student Bonner, who is co-owner of The Forge Fight Academy gym in Bewsey with his twin brother Matthew, defeated Irishman Ciaran Shanahan by decision at York Hall in London to win the CFS title two months ago.
