WARRINGTON batter Rob Jones will join Worcestershire County Cricket Club on loan from Lancashire for the upcoming Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Jones will be available to represent Worcestershire starting with the National Counties fixture against Shropshire on Sunday, 30 July 2023, ahead of his permanent move to the club from the 2024 season.
Worcestershire’s CEO Ashley Giles expressed his enthusiasm about having Jones join up with Worcestershire for the competition.
He said: “We are thrilled to have Rob on board for the Metro Bank One Day Cup ahead of his permanent move for the 2024 season onwards.
“His inclusion will undoubtedly strengthen our batting line-up, and we believe he will make a substantial impact.
“It’s also a great opportunity for Rob to get to know his new teammates and coaches before joining us permanently.”
A spokesperson for Lancashire added: "An agreement has been reached between both clubs that will see the batter move to New Road for the 50-over competition.
"Jones will join Worcestershire permanently ahead of the 2024 season after turning down the offer of a new two-year contract to stay with Lancashire Cricket."
