DANIEL Bonner won the Combat Fight Series 80kg Muay Thai world title at the weekend.
The 31-year-old defeated Irishman Ciaran Shanahan by decision at York Hall in London.
Former Padgate High School student Daniel, who is co-owner of The Forge Fight Academy gym, finished the contest strongly.
Both fighters had their moments, but Bonner scored better in the later rounds.
He trains out of the prestigious Majestic Gym in Wigan under coach Kevin Harper while also running, alongside his twin brother Matthew, his own gym in Bewsey, Warrington.
Coincidentally Matthew won his Cage Warriors MMA world title at the York Hall as well, back in 2021.
Last year Daniel defied a torn bicep to defeat Sheffield’s James Ogden the WBC Muay Thai International light-heavyweight title, which was seen- as a career defining moment.
