COULD Longford's Jesse Lingard be the next footballer to make a move to Saudi Arabia?

The former William Beamont High School pupil has discussed the possibility of moving to the Saudi Pro League.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Lingard confirmed that he was considering moving across to the Saudi Pro League, which is already attracting a number of big names.

Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Saudi team Al-Nassr from Manchester United last year, and more big names including ex-Real Madrid and Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema are also set to join the Saudi Pro League.

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante will also be making the move to Saudi Arabia, as is Wolverhampton Wanderers' Ruben Neves.

Now, Jesse Lingard has addressed whether or not he will be making the move across to the Saudi Pro League.

The former Manchester United winger, who is from Longford, said: "Saudi Arabia are doing big things.

"In the next year or so, it will be one of the hot spots to go to.

"I'm not really surprised big names are moving out there."

Lingard then added: "It's something I'm going to consider as well, I've not ruled that out either."

The 30-year-old played for Penketh United in his youth, and has experienced a somewhat troubled spell lately, having re-joined Manchester United for a season before heading to Nottingham Forest on a one-year contract from 2022.

Lingard was released at the end of the 2022/23 season and has not yet been signed to a new team.
