OLYMPIAN Lucy Glover will be in a different boat when she represents Great Britain in World Rowing Cup II.

Warrington Rowing Club's former Lymm High School has been moved out of the women's quadruple sculls boat that won bronze at the recent European Championships and will pour her efforts into the double sculls on the water in Varese, Italy, this weekend.

Glover, 24, who also represents Edinburgh University, is one of a number of rowers to find themselves in unfamiliar competitive partnerships as chiefs ring the changes after the Euros in Bled, Slovenia, where Team GB topped the medal table.

Commenting on the team selection, Louise Kingsley, British Rowing director of performance

said: “The European Championships were a good first regatta for us but we’ve come away,

reviewed our performances and made changes to some crews while others have stayed the

same.

"Testing out these new combinations in Varese is another step in our learning process as

we move towards forming our final teams for qualification and winning medals at the World

Championships in Belgrade, later this summer.”

Glover is paired with Saskia Budgett from Tideway Scullers School this time around.

Her move out of the quadruple sculls has allowed Lola Anderson to join Georgie Brayshaw,

Hannah Scott and Lauren Henry in that boat.

Glover was a 2022 European Championships gold medal winner in the women’s quadruple sculls.

Glover started rowing, 12 years old, at Warrington Rowing Club and won a silver medal at the World Rowing Junior Championships in the quad (JW4x) in 2016.

Moving up to U23 level, she won gold, bronze and then gold again in the women’s quad from 2017-2019.

She made her senior debut at the European Rowing Championships in 2021, where she won a silver medal in the quad (W4x).

The crew then raced at the Tokyo Olympic regatta, where they finished seventh.

In 2022 her W4x finished fourth at World Cup I but she doubled up in double sculls, with Glover winning bronze with Jess Leyden, just behind their crew mates.

The quad then took the silver medal at World Cup III.
