ONE of the Wire Gymnastics Club members who competed in the British National Finals at the weekend came home with two medals.
Maja Gielniak, a Newman High School student who trains at the Birchwood club, competed in Stoke against top gymnasts from all over the country to place third individually while also being a member of the north west team which secured bronze.
She was one of six girls aged from eight to 14 from Wire Gymnastics Club to have qualified in April to the national and compulsory levels of the event.
The other qualifiers were Jemima Langman, Olivia Keegan, Sienna Read, Mia Koll and Esmee Rideout.
Coach Ema Doherty said: "They are all extremely hard working and spent over six months preparing for qualification.
"The club is proud to have six gymnasts who have qualified for the prestigious finals.
"It’s an incredible achievement to have so many gymnasts represented at this event."
