A WARRIORS of Warrington swimmer got among the medals at an international event.
Sophie Weston reached three finals and achieved a bronze medal in the women's 200m backstroke when she competed in the Swedish Grand Prix as part of the Swim England National Youth Performance Squad.
Weston clocked 2mins 17.54secs in her bronze-medal swim, finishing behind squadmates Evie Dilley (2:14.37) and Niamh Ward (2:16.33).
Swim England's 42 athletes won 53 medals over the three days of competition at the Kungsbacka Badhus Sports Centre.
The experience gained is expected to help prepare the swimmers for April’s British Swimming Championships and potential appearances in a packed summer of junior international events, which includes the European Junior Championships and the Youth Commonwealth Games.
Weston, who gained further valuable experience against fellow up-and-coming talent from around the world at the Ontario Junior International in December, joined clubmate Joe Ashley in breaking all-time county records at the Cheshire Championships earlier this year.
The pair will be joined by fellow Warriors Matty Warburton, George Daintith, Kerry Hennie, Payton Chesters and Lauren Jones in next month's British Trials.
