CONNOR Woods is back at Warrington Town – and this time, it’s for keeps.
Having spent a successful loan spell at Cantilever Park earlier in the season, the club have confirmed the striker’s return on a permanent deal to bolster their bid for promotion.
Town have paid an undisclosed fee to sign Woods from National League North side Southport, but it is understood they have broken their transfer record to secure his signature on a deal until the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

“It’s one we’ve been trying to work on for a long time since he came on loan,” manager Mark Beesley said.
“It’s taken time but thankfully Southport have allowed us to bring him in.
“Everyone knows the quality he’s got so it’s a massive boost for everybody going into the last few games of the season.
“With him being with us for just over two months, he knows everyone and the players are made up with the news.
“It’s given everyone a lift and I want to say a massive thank you to the chairman and everyone who helped get the deal done.
“Hopefully he can pick straight back up where he left off.”
The 25-year-old’s return is a huge boost to Yellows’ promotion chances, with Mark Beesley’s side sitting fourth in the Northern Premier League Premier Division table ahead of a trip to play-off rivals Radcliffe on Saturday.
Woods could make his second Town debut at the Neuven Stadium having spent two successful months on loan at the club earlier this year.
He scored six times in 12 appearances and remains their joint leading goalscorer alongside Luke Duffy, Stefan Mols and Matty McDonald.
Chairman Toby Macormac added: “We’re delighted to bring Connor back to the club, and we can tell from meeting with him how enthusiastic he is about being back around the squad and committed to the challenge ahead of us.
“This deal has only been possible thanks to support from sponsors NWSD.
"At this time of year, we have always got to be mindful of next season too, even if we’re not always sure of the circumstances we’ll find ourselves in, and so it is good to have Connor secured as negotiations continue with the existing squad.”
