WARRINGTON Town are continuing to work on extending the loan deal of in-form forward Connor Woods.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form since arriving at Cantilever Park from National League North side Southport, scoring five times in seven appearances including two in Saturday’s FA Trophy win over South Shields.

As it stands, however, Saturday’s trip to Guiseley will be his final game for Town with his month-long deal expiring after the game.

It is understood that talks are continuing between the two clubs, with Yellows said to be hopeful a deal can be struck that allows Woods to remain at the club beyond this weekend.

Brought in at a time when Yellows were struck by injuries and illness in attacking areas to the likes of Josh Amis, Isaac Buckley-Ricketts and Mikey Howard as well as long-term absentee Jordan Buckley, Woods’ impact has been sensational.

He has started all seven of the games Town have played since his arrival, with Yellows emerging victorious in five of them.

Amis and Buckley-Ricketts have now returned to fitness and Buckley continues to work towards a return, but Howard's season is over after suffering an ACL injury in training.
