OLIVIA Whitlam will join fellow Warrington rower Richard Egington in the repechage route to a second successive Olympic final.
The Daresbury 26-year-old was in the boat which trailed clear winners USA and Australia in heat one of the women’s eight competition at Eton Dorney on Sunday.
USA and heat two winners Canada are through to Thursday’s final, with Great Britain, Australia, Germany, Romania and Netherlands having another chance to book their ticket in Tuesday’s 10.50am repechage on Lake Dorney.
Whitlam, a member of Agecroft Rowing Club, finished sixth in the women’s pair final in Beijing four years ago and, with her crew, has a lot of work to do on the next outing.
They finished the heats as the second slowest boat.
Heat one: USA 6:14.68, Australia 6:20.89, Great Britain 6:23.51, Germany 6:34.32.
Heat two: Canada 6:13.91, Romania 6:16.61, Netherlands 6:18.98.
