Aldwinians 20 Warrington 10.
WARRINGTON were eventually outmuscled by a strong Aldwinians side in rugby union's Lancashire Trophy on Saturday.
Warrington, who handed a 100th first-team appearance to Dave Hartill, played some good rugby during the match but fell behind when Aldwinians drove over the line from a rolling maul.
Dave Rockey replied with a penalty but the home side took a seven-point lead with a carbon copy of their first try.
Warrington started to put the pressure on, though, and Rockey capitalised on a poor clearance to touch down a converted try and level the scores.
Warrington defended well in the second period but a penalty put Aldwinians ahead and the hosts clinched victory with a try two minutes from time.
Whitchurch 2nd 10 Warrington 2nd 18.
WARRINGTON'S second team opened their season with an excellent league win at Whitchurch.
The home side led 5-0 at half time but Walker scored Warrington's first points after receiving Hughes' pass.
Two Douglas penalties then put Warrington in control before Brian Heyes made the game safe with another try.
Whitchurch grabbed a last-minute consolation try but Warrington, for whom Ben Hale impressed on his debut, were worthy winners.
