WARRINGTON Town boss Glenn Walker has bolstered his backroom staff after the departure of joint boss Nick Armitage.

Walker, who has resumed sole control of the Yellows, has brought in Ian Street as his new assistant manager, while Chris Bermingham has returned to the club as a player-coach.

Street played with Walker at Horwich RMI and has also been an assistant at Atherton LR and St Helens Town.

He was in place for Town's 5-1 FA Cup win at Yorkshire Amateur on Saturday and Walker said: "I talked to Ian about maybe coming down before Nick came, but we kept in touch and he was a great asset in the changing rooms on Saturday."

Walker expects to hand a debut to right winger Ryan Baker when Town entertain Eastwood in the UniBond First Division on Saturday.

The 26-year-old has joined the club from Hednesford and previously commanded a fee of £5,000 when he moved from Kidsgrove to Witton.

Goalkeeper Jon Gillies has also signed from Cammell Laird but is unlikely to start Saturday's game at Cantilever Park, which kicks off at 3pm.

Dougie Pitts and Dave Tickle should be available again after missing Town's FA Cup victory but Bermingham has a hamstring problem.

Town, whose midweek home match against Colwyn Bay was postponed due to their opponents' cup commitments, are away to Buxton on Tuesday.

Yorkshire Amateur 1 Warrington Town 5 TOWN will travel to Nottingham to take on Long Eaton United in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup on September 16 after scoring four goals in the first 21 minutes on Saturday.

Town cruised past Northern Counties East League Division One side Yorkshire Amateur in Leeds in the preliminary round and have now been drawn to face Premier Division outfit Long Eaton, who are one league below them in the non-league pyramid.

Town took the lead against Amateur when Gareth Evans finished from close range after a 13th-minute scramble.

Simon Burton doubled the lead from the spot five minutes later after Evans had been fouled, before grabbing his second from Danny Salt's cross.

A four-minute hat-trick was completed when he met Evans' cross and, although Mathew Surtees headed a consolation for Amateur in the 65th minute, Evans struck home a fifth goal from the penalty spot eight minutes from time after Burton had been brought down.
