JASON Wright's eccentric innings helped Stretton clinch a comfortable victory against Knutsford.

Stretton, who are mid-table in Meller Braggins Cricket League Division Three with three games to play, were severely depleted but restricted their opponents to 154 for 5, with Ste Critchley taking three wickets.

Wright then got Stretton off to an electric start in an innings that included sweep shots from seam bowling, rattling up a quickfire 41 to put his side on course for victory.

Stretton's second team lost by nine wicket at league leaders Ashley after being dismissed for 95.

Matt Bannon's innings of 49 was the only form of resistance and although Ashley required 30 overs to reach the target, they did so for the loss of only one wicket.

The Sunday side are still challenging for the league title despite a home draw against Ashley.

Paul Critchley took a brilliant 6 for 50 and James Sowerby grabbed 2 for 20 as Ashley were bowled out for 186, but only Toby Mullins, who made his maiden half-century, got past 20 as Stretton finished their reply on 144 for 8.
