TACKLING a Championship One club in the Challenge Cup on Sunday provides Warrington Wolves with a mental challenge.
Tony Smith does not want to see any complacency in his men after a period in which Wolves have shown some inconsistency but got themselves back on track with the 58-14 mauling of Bradford Bulls at the weekend.
“I would hope that they (the players) are not in the wrong frame of mind,” said Smith.
“We have got standards for ourselves, regardless of who we play, and though we have been up and down this year, we have enjoyed more ups than downs.
“This week is a different challenge and one that could still provide some of the problems we have seen previously, but we want to avoid that and play as well as we know we can.
“Keighley will be giving everything in this game, but we are ready for that and we will be in the right frame of mind to handle them.”
Wolves have not faced Keighley since Jonathan Davies scored a crucial try to seal a Regal Trophy quarter-final success in Yorkshire in 1995, so Jason Demetriou’s side are not known to Smith and his players.
“Keighley have that unknown factor and we probably won’t be as familiar with some of their individuals as they will be with ours,” said Smith.
“For them it is a big day out with nothing to lose and if they approach it like that they will be very dangerous.”
