GREY Mist Mere is producing excellent tench and roach sport at the moment.

Warrington Anglers' Association chairman Chris Grehan reports catching a roach with every cast on maggot.

Carp seem to be shoaled up and it is either feast or famine, with no other obvious reason for some anglers bagging up and others just getting neck ache.

One disturbing development is the reported appearance of new' carp.

I can say categorically that, if this is true, not only will the culprit(s) be banned for life from our association but also from all other decent clubs, as well as facing a hefty fine from the Environment Agency.

Such an irresponsible action could wipe out the fishery, so if anyone has any information let me know. I can promise anonymity.

The Disabled and Over 60s match on Monday saw a welcome return of plenty of roach and perch, as well as a few decent bream.

All matches provide an excellent indication of our fish stocks but obviously they have to be taken on the overall picture, not just on one isolated event, otherwise we could be stocking fish unnecessarily.

That is another valid reason for giving me your pleasure catch results.

A good example is Sandiway large lake, where we have a register of Simmonds carp stocked with identifying features.

Information there relies on photographic identification, which will show growth rates.

That information is sadly lacking and, with others on order, it makes me wonder if we are doing the right thing. It is up to you.

Members should note that there has been a small problem at one of our licence depots, so if you have recently received a subscription reminder notice and it transpires that you have already paid contact me immediately.

Do not just tell the tackle shop because we need certain information for our records, which we can only obtain from speaking to you.

Additionally at this late stage it is too late to resign without first paying your 2006 subscription. When you join you are contracted to abide by the rules and there is only one month from when the cards go out to resign without incurring payment.
