BLIND golfer Duncan Bickerton will represent his country for the first time next week.

The 64-year-old is due to play for the English Blind Golf Association against their Scottish counterparts in an international clash at Meon Valley Golf Club, near Southampton, on Tuesday.

Bickerton, of Locking Stumps, gained his selection on the back of finishing in the top 12 of the association's order of merit after a series of events during the year.

His second-place position in the final match, the British Blind Masters at Patshull Park in Shropshire, resulted in Bickerton finishing fifth in the order of merit and second in the seniors' order of merit.
