POULTON Park Golf Club's Nathan Chadwick produced a scintillating performance to win the Golf Foundation Captain's Trophy.

The 15-year-old shot 81 - a nett score of 59 - to win, while 13-year-old David Myatt, whose round of 91 was a nett score of 62, was second and will now represent the club in the 2007 Golf Foundation under 14s competition.

James Thompson, aged 15, won his first major competition as his nett score of 63 defeated Tom Jackson, who went round in a gross score of 71, by one stroke.

Paul Hackett has moved above clubmate Martin McBride in the pecking order for a chance to play at the 2005 US Open venue.

The 14-year-old, who is in his first full year of golf, shot the last five holes of his round six less than his handicap to put himself in 14th position in the Red Bull Final Five National Competition rankings.

The top 40 golfers in the rankings of the open age competition will qualify to play at Pinehurst Golf Club in North Carolina, with one month of qualifying remaining. McBride has also been in the hunt after taking 23rd position in June.

Poulton Park's junior team will face Ringway Golf Club in the next round of Manchester Golf Association's BMW Challenge.

They have already beaten Dunham Forest, Warrington and Leigh in this year's competition but were eliminated on the final green by Ringway in 2005.
