STRETTON'S first XI achieved a second successive draw with a weakened team against table-topping opposition in the Meller Braggins Cricket League.

Over Peover, who were struggling on 17 for 3 at one stage, rallied thanks to the middle order to declare on 238 for 7, with Ben Clissold taking 3 for 75 and Mo Kumar 2 for 45.

Clissold bashed a typically exuberant 65 and an unbeaten knock of 43 from Dave Collins ensured that Stretton held out.

The second team drew at Weaverham after skittling the hosts for 153, with Greg Barnard taking 3 for 23 and Kenny Jarvis 2 for 13.

Tim Mullins hit 47 as Stretton fell just short in their reply.

Stretton's Sunday XI hammered Hale Barns in the Cheshire County League after amassing 176 for 9.

Mark Critchley hit the highest score with 38, while Paul Critchley claimed four wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 87.
