GRAPPENHALL made it four wins in a row with a good derby' victory in the Cheshire County Cricket League at Warrington on Saturday.

They increased their promotion chances with the win after the top three teams all lost.

Grappenhall would be able to boost their promotion bid further if they could continue their good form and defeat basement team Brooklands on Saturday.

Grappers had to chase Warrington's 225 for 8 at the weekend and gave themselves a real chance of victory with a strong start to their batting, although they started to find runs hard to come by after some tight bowling from Paul Agar.

Grappenhall eventually won by four wickets with two overs to spare, with captain Richard Green finishing 73 not out. Paul Radage made 43 and Ron Hart struck 49.

Some big hitting from Liam Heaphy, 88, after Warrington had slumped to 18 for 3 had given the home side hope.

Grappenhall's second string are preparing to travel to Christleton for a top of the table battle on Saturday after the weekend win at home to Bollington.

Father and son Neil Titchard, three wickets, and Matt, four wickets, helped to restrict Bollington to 171.

Grappenhall achieved victory without losing any wickets, with Dave Nicholson, 71 not out, and Steve Hartley, 79 not out.

Grappers' third XI, 146 all out, lost at Cheadle, who reached the victory target for the loss of only two wickets.
