Poynton 3 Crosfields 2.

CROSFIELDS could not turn their domination into points as their first game of the Mid-Cheshire Soccer League First Division season ended in defeat.

Despite Neal Holden's goal, Poynton led 2-1 at half time as a result of poor defending and Crosfields, who host Styal on Saturday at 3pm, could not get back on level terms.

They twice hit the woodwork and missed numerous chances before Poynton struck their third and, although Kevin McDouglas' fine header halved the deficit, Holden hit the post and Neil Huttock fired wide in the dying minutes.

Crosfields Reserves 1 Poynton Reserves 4.

CROSFIELDS Reserves suffered a heavy defeat in their season opener in the Reserve Division.

Matt Harding's run and cross allowed substitute Phil Murray to head in Crosfields' only goal.
