WOLVES skipper Lee Briers capped off an exquisite individual performance at Salford by breaking a personal best record.

His fifth and final goal during the 35-34 defeat took him past his previous best season for the club in terms of the number of goals kicked.

That took his season's tally to 94 in 24 appearances, beating his total of 93 in the year 2000 when he made 32 appearances - nine from the bench.

Warrington's last player to score more placed kicks in a season was Jonathan Davies with 116 during the 1994/95 campaign.

The 28-year-old, who broke Steve Hesford's long-standing club record for the most drop goals in a career earlier this year, arguably notched his best try of the season so far at The Willows too.

Briers, now fourth in the club's all-time scoring chart, sold three dummies from a scrum and ghosted over from 30 metres out without a finger being laid on him.

That sparked renewed chants of Briers for Britain' from the barmy army behind the sticks.

His general kicking game was immaculate at Salford, setting up two tries for Brent Grose and others for Chris Bridge and Michael Sullivan with his creative boot and clever vision.

With Briers in that form, anything is still possible for Wolves this season.
