NEW Wolves chairman Steven Broomhead (pictured) says he will be proud to represent the club at Wembley.
Broomhead took over the role at the end of last year following Lord Hoyle’s decision to step down.
And he says that the continued success at The Halliwell Jones Stadium is proof he and the council were right to step in when the club was close to going out of business in 1999. He added: “I have seen the club move forward considerably since I got involved in ’99 – both on and off the pitch.
“The club has become more and more important in the community.
“And our crowds have grown year on year. So much so that we have masterplans now for the expansion of the stadium.”
And he said that planned stadiums at near neighbours St Helens and Salford would be more competition for Wolves.
He added: “It is a challenge for us to improve to match what they have. The 2013 World Cup is coming to England and we want to be involved.”
For Broomhead, chief executive of the Northwest Development Agency, there will be nerves before the final.
“It is a big day and hopefully I will be celebrating on the pitch with the players afterwards,” he added.
Broomhead has pledged to donate £10 of his own money for every point Warrington score at Wembley to charity – doubling the final total if the Wolves win.
