WOLVES back-rower Louis Anderson feels he has a debt to repay for the club.

The former New Zealand international, currently in his second year at the club, has recently signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at Warrington until 2011.

A major reason for his decision to stay was a desire to repay the club for the faith they have shown in him so far.

Anderson believes he has still not fulfilled his potential at The Halliwell Jones Stadium and hopes the recent improvement in his team's fortunes can coincide with an improvement in his own form.

He said: "I’m slowly getting there. I will never be satisfied with my game, I know there’s always things to improve on.

"It was a big decision to stay here.

"One of the things that made me want to stay here is the potential the team has. I think everyone knows that, it’s just whether we can perform together as a team.

"But the club’s been great to me and I just want to stay here and continue to improve my game.

"I definitely feel I need to pay them back. They’ve shown faith in me and I need to improve a lot more of my game to pay them back."

Although the 23-year-old Kiwi admits moving to Warrington was a bit of a culture shock, he now feels settled in England.

He said: "I thought last year I settled in pretty well.

"I lived with Vinnie and my family was over with me straight away so it was easier to make the transition.

"As a team, this year’s been growing from the start of the year.

"We’ve still got a long way to go but it’s been good to see a bit more of the potential fulfilled."

Following Saturday's Challenge Cup quarter-final win at Hull KR, Anderson says morale and confidence are both high at the club.

But he also insists that any thoughts of cup glory must quickly be put to one side and that Wolves have plenty to work on ahead of tomorrow's trip to Castleford.

Although defence has been good in the last three games, Anderson believes their execution has not been up to usual standards and that Wolves need to find better balance in their game.

He said: "We don’t want to look too far ahead and that’s a while away so we’ve got a game this week that we’re focusing on. The Hull KR game and the semi are in the back of our minds now.

"There was a good effort from us on the weekend but we made it hard on ourselves because we didn’t play our best.

"Even though we put in a big effort, maybe our execution was a bit poor and we’ve been working hard on that.

"I think rather than being on and off with attack and defence, if we just find that balance and stay consistent from then on that’s the main thing.

"Everyone knows it won’t happen overnight but we’re slowly getting there.

"We’ve had a few good wins that weren’t our best performances but if we get the right balance and build consistency, we can get a lot better."

And Anderson believes Wolves head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith is the right man to unleash the team's full potential.

He added: "I think he’s been part of successful clubs like Leeds and Great Britain.

"He’s just brought in some good experience and some good principles and the boys are doing the little things right at training and those things are important for us. That’s shown in the last month.

"It’s a lot of little things he’s introduced and he’s slowly doing it. It could have been all those little things that was why we were struggling but we’ve picked those up now."
