STEVE Broadhurst ran a superb race to shave 2.1 seconds off his personal best in the 800m at a Trafford Open meet.
One of five Warrington Athletics Club members competing at the event, Broadhurst ran 1min 52.41secs in the seeded British Milers Club A race.
He kept pace with a strong field that included Olympians Michael Rimmer and Tom Lancashire to provide a major confidence boost for the season ahead.
Dan Cliffe faced testing conditions in the 3,000m A race. Running in wind and rain, Cliffe recorded a season’s best time of 8mins 32.43secs to achieve his aim of producing English Schools qualifying time.
In the women’s 3000m B race, Kate Titlow ran well to claim a time of 10mins 44.76secs, a good performance in the conditions.
Beth Hicken made her debut at400m and went out hard from the start, reaching the halfway mark in 27.4secs.
She enjoyed a strong debut, finishing in 60.24 seconds, and will be hoping to break the 60-second barrier this season.
Finally, James Ellis went in search of a little speed work to supplement his fell running and set a new personal best of 2mins 6.74secs over 800m.
