STRETTON recovered from a shaky start to record a comfortable four-wicket win against Bunbury on Saturday.

Captain Iain Hill lost the toss for the first time this season and was forced to field first.

Bunbury started well, reaching 100 for 2 after 17 overs, as they looked likely to amass a big score.

But Stretton had other ideas and, thanks to excellent bowling and fielding, they managed to bowl out Bunbury for 127, with Ben Clissold the pick of the bowlers after taking 6 for 30.

In reply, Stretton got off to a very shaky start and, as they stumbled to 13 for 3 and then 80 for 5, the game was in danger of being lost.

Ultimately, two good partnerships saw them home with overs to spare. Eshan Malik continued his good form with a quick-fire 20, while Ben Clissold hit a superb 40 and Hill contributed a classy knock of 53 not out.

A young and inexperienced Stretton second XI suffered a bad day at the office.

In the soaring heat, Stretton were made to field and Congleton racked up an impressive 244 for 4 in 40 overs.

Facing the improbable task of chasing the runs, Stretton battled for the draw but were bowled out for 113 with only three balls left.
