WARRINGTON’S BARLA Great Britain head coach John Fieldhouse believes he has a squad that can come home from their South Pacific tour unbeaten.

The squad includes two former Bank Quay Bulls players - Fieldhouse’s son Ryan and John Walker - for games in Tonga, Samoa and Fiji.

Fieldhouse, who lives in Woolston, said: “We’re all looking forward to this fantastic opportunity to represent our country.

“We will be visiting some great destinations, all with a very good reputation as rugby playing nations and who gave a good account of themselves in last year’s World Cup.

“I expect we will be meeting tough physical sides and we have put in some good training sessions.

“The squad are aware that this will be no picnic and the players’ attitude has been first class.

“I have always been a winner both on and off the field and I want to do what I did on the tour of South Africa in 2006, come home unbeaten and I believe we have the skill and determination to do that.”

They will fly out to Tonga on Tuesday, returning home on July 3 after games against Tonga on June 13, Samoa Patrons XIII on June 17, Toa Samoa on June 20 and Fiji Bati on June 27 and July 1.
